The Wolfe Pack

Family, especially Christian families, have always held importance to the Wolfes. At this stage of our lives, we particularly like to watch our sons establish their own families.

We prayed for their spouses for years before either of our sons married. We asked the Lord to provide women committed to Him, and to mold our sons into servant leaders, not legalistic husbands.

Currently, we pray for the kids’ marriages and their abilities to parent using biblical principles.  On this particular day, we watched Brent and Becky offer comfort and assurance to their girls in a particular situation.

The Bible never talks about it taking a village to raise a child, not a community, not even a church. God’s concept, from Eden forward, called for a family. When the time came to destroy the wicked world via the flood,  God told Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family…”

Our younger son and his wife  just became parents late last summer, but we already see their unity in approaches to provide both structure and adventure in the baby’s life. With her tiny toes sticking out to keep the beat, she seemed ready to sing with Mickey and Donald.

Separated by thousands of miles, we pray daily for them. We also  thankfully use Skype to watch milestone events together.

I especially appreciate the communication God’s given me with both my daughters-in-love. Life doesn’t run smoothly and we can talk about that too. So I thank the Lord that, for the first time, the nine of us all gathered in Florida for three days!

I have looked at I Chronicles 17:16, where King David says, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that You have brought me this far”? And I am overcome with God’s grace to us.
