The Twelve Days of Christmas — Day Four

Since we still had no snow on Tuesday, the 27th, we scuttled our original plans for a one-horse open sleigh ride at Pleasant Valley Dream Rides and headed to the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake.

Our goal stemmed from Isaiah 41:20: “…so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.”

Through much laughter, our son Bryan described moving the nine of us as “herding cats,” but we loaded up , the three girls with Dave and me in the Jeep, the kids’ parents in the van.

Austyn Grace had wanted to see a black bear, but we were happy to show Kelsey, Bryan and Becky this one instead of the live ones that come into our yard in the summer!

Mr. Bear stood at attention while Taylor Faith stroked his fur. I loved watching her circle the bear and giggle.

Other exhibits featured fish, baby deer, and turtles.

Watching the three girls make discoveries about some of God’s creations tickled Dave and me. We want the girls to delight in the creations and creatures God has made.

And it wouldn’t hurt if they liked the country living that’s part of visiting Grandma and Grandpa!

Downstairs, a ranger had an injured owl tethered to her arm.

Best sound in the room?

Three little girls saying “Who, Who!”

And what parent doesn’t love watching their adult children teaching the next generation?

Grandpa and I decided that we all needed a celebratory meal at Brenda’s Pizzeria!
